The Gonads-N-Strife Bicycle Club was established in the summer of 2000, when I rediscovered my love of cycling through purchasing a fat tire cruiser. From there I met other folks into cruisers, and soon I had friends to ride with. People would see us on our bikes, and I'd hear "I haven't ridden a bike in years." and I'd say "Take her for a spin!", and of course they'd want one of there own. That's how our club doctrine came to be "Changing the world one bike at a time." Soon I'd organize group rides, down the Truckee, the west and south shores of Tahoe, and pretty much anywhere for any reason to ride our bikes together. |
We had so much fun, I thought "Why not get the cycling community involved, and raise some money for charity while we're at it?" I went to work putting together and finding sponsorship for our first Poker Run. To date we have had six successful Poker Runs and four Christmas fund raisers. We are a non-profit organization, with event proceeds benefitting our local Northern Nevada Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Committee to Aid Abused Women as well as the Northern Nevada Childrens Cancer Foundation. Thanks to all of you fun lovin', bike riding folks who have come out and made these events happen! We look forward to seeing all of you at the next annual Poker Run on Sunday, October 02, 2011!
